10u Preview for this weekend (9/18-9/20)

10 Open Weekend Preview: Arkansas USSSA Super Select NIT

The Lead The 10 Open division at the Arkansas USSSA Super Select NIT in Cabot is a fascinating clash of highly ranked AA and AAA powerhouses colliding in an Open format. With the state’s #1 overall AA team stepping up to face the top-ranked AAA squad, this bracket is extremely top-heavy and offers immense ranking implications. For unranked challengers in the field, surviving pool play will require near-perfect execution against elite competition.

Teams to Watch

  • Mafia 10U National: The undisputed #1 overall team in the 10U AA class brings a dominant 6-1 record into the weekend. They are the team to beat, and playing in an Open division is exactly what they need to legitimize their grip on the #1 overall spot.
  • Maumelle Bulldogs-WADE: Currently ranked #14 overall and sitting at #1 in the AAA class with a 3-1 record. According to the master games log, they have proven they can score in bunches (putting up 17 runs against Lakeside – King) but have also proven their resilience in tight games, dropping a narrow 7-6 battle against the older Border City Backs Turbeville 11U. They are a legitimate threat to win this tournament.
  • Diamond Elite: Ranked #20 overall and #3 in the AAA class with a 2-1 record. They need a strong Saturday showing to solidify their top-3 class ranking and keep pace with Maumelle.

The Matchup of the Week Maumelle Bulldogs-WADE vs. Diamond Elite (Saturday, 11:00 AM at Allman Bevis Sports Complex). It is not often we get a pool play matchup featuring the #1 and #3 ranked teams in the AAA class. With no prior master games history between them this season, this is a massive early test to see who truly controls the AAA landscape heading into bracket play.

The Dark Horse Double Play CRUSHERS – Harmon: Though unranked in the top 20, they draw a brutal pool play assignment against the #1 overall Mafia 10U National (Saturday, 5:00 PM). If they can catch Mafia sleeping late in the day, a single upset here would instantly put them on the statewide radar.

10 AAA Weekend Preview: Arkansas Fall Hogville Showcase

The Lead The 10 AAA division at the Arkansas Fall Hogville Showcase in Fayetteville features a wide-open field of unranked contenders looking to knock off a pair of top-30 AA squads. With only two ranked teams in the bracket, the path to the championship is accessible, making this a prime weekend for a lower-tier team to make a name for themselves.

Teams to Watch

  • Prospects Prime: The highest-ranked team in the field, sitting at #12 overall in the AA class with a solid 3-1 record. Coming off a 3-1 weekend, they have momentum and must assert their dominance early to protect their top-15 standing.
  • Diamondcore 10u: Ranked #26 overall in the AA class with a 2-1 record. They have shown flashes of high-level play but need to string together consistent wins this weekend to break into the top 20.

The Matchup of the Week Prospects Prime vs. Dingers Gold (Sunday, 8:00 AM at Kessler 8). The unranked Dingers Gold get the first shot at the #12 overall Prospects Prime. A sluggish Sunday morning start for Prospects Prime could open the door for a massive upset right out of the gate.

The Dark Horse Missouri Padres: Crossing state lines to compete in Fayetteville, out-of-state teams often bring an un-scouted edge to pool play. Unranked in Arkansas, they avoid the state’s top-tier teams in their first game and have a favorable path to bracket play if they can secure an opening win against Prospects Prime.

10 AA Weekend Preview: Benton Fall Opener

The Lead The 10 AA division at the Benton Fall Opener is headlined by an incredibly explosive A-class team looking to make a statement against AA competition. With a mix of ranked powerhouses and unranked regional teams, run differential will be absolutely critical in determining bracket seeding.

Teams to Watch

  • Greenbrier Tigers: Ranked #6 overall in the A class with a stellar 4-1 record. The master games log shows they are an absolute offensive juggernaut, having posted massive 21-1 and 19-2 blowout wins, as well as grinding out 18-11 and 14-13 shootouts against Arkansas Prospects 10U. Their bats are red-hot, and they are the definitive team to watch.
  • OC Rockets Sallee: While unranked in the overall top 20, they hold a winning 3-2 record and currently sit with 6 points in the tournament standings, tied for the top seed heading into the weekend.

The Matchup of the Week Canes Midsouth Black-AR vs. HS Mayhem (Sunday, 12:00 PM at BHolland Riverside SB 3). This is a crucial midday collision between two unranked squads desperate for momentum. The winner gains a critical path forward in the bracket, while the loser will be fighting an uphill battle the rest of the day.

The Dark Horse Legends Select – 9u: Playing up an age division is never easy, and they enter unranked with a 1-2 record. However, they draw an opening matchup against the unranked River Valley Pintails. If they can manufacture early runs, they have the grit to steal a pool play victory and shake up the division standings.
